Lives in Cricket

This is a series of lively and well-written biographies of people who, as the title suggests, have had a fascinating life in cricket.

Amongst the subjects are county stalwarts such as Allan Watkins and Jack Bond for whom biographies have never previously been published.

Edited originally by David Jeater, then by Mark Rowe and now by Jeremy Lonsdale, the series tells the story of some of cricket’s most interesting characters, as well as providing a fresh insight on some of the players such as Lionel Palairet, Somerset’s first great batsman, controversial Derbyshire seamer Bill Bestwick and England Women’s allrounder Enid Bakewell.

Supplemented by photographs and other statistical information, the books are a must-have for the serious student of the game.
