Simon Katich received the Hampshire Cricket Societies "Hampshire" Cricketer of the year award, after a season in which he dominated the counties batting. Scoring 1143 County Championship runs, the 30 year old Australian was the only Hampshire player to raach the 4 figure milestone including 4 centuries.

 

Katich, who did not accept a second term with Hampshire to persue his Test career, also broke the outstanding National League record for the county with 728 runs, defeating Chris Smith's 720 run tally.

 

Dimitri Mascarenhas came a close second in the members voting.
